Once you’ve shopped around and had a look at what size truck is best for you, finalize your reservations and double check the time and date you are booking for. It’s also a good idea to check cancellation policies and insurance costs before making your booking final.
Other things to look for in moving trucks are to make sure that you’ll be able to drive the vehicle safely. Ask for an automatic transmission moving truck if you’re not sure that you would be able to handle a manual transmission. Some other things to look for are large rear vision mirrors, a mechanical lift on the back of the truck. These two things will make you moving experience a lot more pleasant. Most moving companies, or truck rental companies will give you ropes and moving trolleys (as well as blankets to wrap your furniture in) as standard…. But it’s always better to ask.
Once you’ve got your truck organized you’ll have to start collecting packing boxes for your items if you are not going to get the from the rental truck company. It’s usually best to get the boxes well in advance of your moving date. Call around at your local supermarkets, or discount outlets (who will usually have an abundance of card board boxes which making perfect moving boxes). Some people will even put aside moving boxes for you which you can pick up a later date. Of course, you can buy moving boxes as well (which is sometimes a good idea if you have a lot of fragile items). As always, the most important thing is to plan properly… now is the time to start doing it. Finding the right moving truck rental is only part of the overall process. It’s a great idea to make your own checklist… plan your itinerary, the phone calls you might have to make and the services you have to connect or disconnect.
